October 15, 200916 yr #1 I don't (maybe I should say didn't) collect American Legion items, although I have been a member for 15 years. But I was stopping by a new-to-me antiques shop to pick up some WWI panoramics I found online and found this group... ...for $15 takes all. Couldn't resist the big 40/8 patches, the rest I consider a bonus.

October 19, 200916 yr Author #7 Thanks, Kevin. I would have paid that for just the 40/8 triangle patches. I think, in order to control things, and because it links in with my 27th Division collection somewhat, that I'll stick with just NY Legion items. I find I have to place limits like this or things get out of control very quickly. I imagine I'm the only one this happens to... But I bought the book gwb123 suggested (thank you), and I may add national convention badges to this as well.
October 19, 200916 yr #8 You are welcome! And no, limits are a GOOD thing. This way we keep collecting and still have the mortgage paid! Plus, with the great State of New York, I am sure there will be plenty to keep you busy. It had one of our larger populations during WWI and WWII and I am sure both the VFW and American Legion must of had hundreds of chapters and events.
October 20, 200916 yr #9 I really like veterans organizations items. For one thing, you seldom have to worry about reproductions, the pieces are colorfull and you get that hometown/state connection. Great stuff! :thumbsup:
