One of my lastest aquisitions is this Signal Flag Kit. This one is an early case dated 1916 manufactured by Mills. Most cases found are dated 1918, or they will be the undated post WWI cases. I also noticed that the stenciling on this case is different from the 1918 dated cases.

 

The buckle to close the flap is the pre 1915 flat buckle. Were these used on the cases through 1918?

 

The kit also comes with the flags and I can post photos of those if anybody wishes.

 

Also has anybody ever come across earlier flag kit cases in olive green?

This one does not have a date but I assume it would be around the early 1900s judging by the web strap and web strap hardware
