June 2, 200917 yr #1 I thought you'd like to see this. Belonged to former POW Sgt John Lewandowski, B Co., 507th PIR. He parachuted into Normandy #2 man in his stick aboard A/C #43-15140 (the partial manifest pictured below is actually incorrect), chalk 43 in serial #26. Landed outside of CHERBOURG! Became POW and ended up in Stalag III-C. Camp was liberated by Russians 31JAN45 and SGT Lewandowski shipped from ETO to USA 25APR45. Of interest, Ike is a reissued (multiple laundry marks) 36L and has been heavily tailored. Jump wing hallmark is that of Bell Trading Post. Enjoy! (A HUGE thanks goes out to B. June 2, 200917 yr #8 Very nice ! I have some POW mail from an officer who was also in the 507th captured on June 6th. He was also held in Stalag IIIC. Kurt

June 13, 200917 yr Author #18 Thanks for all of the great commenst! UPDATE: With help, we have uncovered an October 1948 newspaper that shows Lewandowski reenlisting in the army, as corporal, for 3 years. He is to be posted to Cp Brekenridge Ky for assignment to US Constabulary, European Command. We have also located an obit. for the good SGT's brother from 1953 that states that Lewandowski is "in the army". So he re-ups in '48 and is still in in 1953! More research to come!
