I just bought this saber and wonder what this stamp on the ricasso means. I've got an awful feeling that this is a reproduction. Thanks for your help

It's an eagle head, poorly stamped, but you see these. what is the date? Scabbard?

That mark is very interesting. It's the same eagle mark that Winchester used on the US Model 1917 bayonet. I don't collect swords, but that mark is not used on any other US bayonet.

Inspector numbers 10-13 appear on LF&C sabers. I used to have a copy of a letter from the Army inspector at the factory that gave some names associated with the numbers, but a cursory search of my files didn’t reveal it.

One more question if I may. Should there be a leather washer when used with the saddle mounted scabbard that I pictured above or was that only with the belt mounted scabbard?

The M1913 sword was not intended to ever be worn on the belt. Only the saddle.
