LCDR is Lieutenant Commander?

 what does mean the rest?

MCVS ???

10/12/43  /03/  10/07/43 ???

Was him a Doctor in the Navy and during 1943(appears there)and those USNR men were in the Navy only during WW2 years ???

Thanks for your help

OF Course.

LCDR is Lt Commander.

MC is Medical Corps (that is the doctors)

VS is the classification for Volunteer Reserve (Special Service)

Yes he was in during WWII I should have put the headings on the columns:

Date of Precedence is the date he got his currant rank.

Year of Birth - Self explanatory

Pay Entry Base Date is the date he signed in to the Navy. So he signed up on October 7, 1943 and was given his rank on October 12, 1943.

This entry came from the Naval Officer registry for 1944.

Haven't tacked him down for after WWII but may have stayed in the Reserves

Found this.  Looks like he retired November 1956. Made Commander November 5, 1945.

I did see that in mid 1944, he was station at the submarine base in New London, Connecticut. The designator 2109 is a Medical Reserve officer that has retired.

I wonder if may be he used same cap (with scrambled egg visor) for the 2 ranks he got in the Navy although appears a label where is writtten Commander Lewis P.James

Would be possible to know if his visor is made during his first rank(WW2) in the Navy and he changed label rank or is impossible to know because rank dates are so close since 1943 to 1945 when he became a Commander?

May be material and construction are same from WW2 and the next post war years and then is difficult to determinate exactly the hat period.

No, that hat with the scrambled eggs on the visor is for a commander and captain. Lt Commander does not have the decorated visor. So he made commander on November 5, 1945, so my guess is he got it shortly thereafter.

Finally to complete the biography from this man: I wonder if

would be possible find more recording from him like how long was his life and where did him live in the States and the top would be any pic from him although I suppose this last point will be almost imposible...

Thanks once more
