May 16May 16 #1 I have 3 of them. Try not to hate me…..All fully functional. Here in NZ we can own them (with the appropriate Police Licence) but……..not fire them. And they are cheap. Say $US 3500. Anyway, our soldiers during WW2 used Thompsons only. No Sten guns issued to NZ troops. Here are some pics as eye candy of mine grouped with appropriate items from the niches I specialise in.

May 17May 17 #8 Nice groupings! The temptation to not shoot them would probably be overwhelming for me? I also have 3 currently. The first one I bought years ago was 5K, but that one got sold for an upgrade. A Thompson is more like having an oldsmobile with maybe a 455? Eventually pretty fast, handles like a boat, but will peel rubber off the line. Both still an eye catcher when you see nice ones!

June 10Jun 10 #19 Very nice! I think I paid about 3500 USD when I bought my TSMG back around 1999. Living in the US though, I get to shoot it (and my other Go-Fasters) when I want. Here's mine, with a few other Go-Fasters of mine. (Edited to add that an M16A2 is absent from the photo.)

If you can buy a full auto Thompson relatively easily. I'd imagine ammo is strictly regulated. If ammo is super easy to get like in a red state in the US then you absolutely could go in the middle of nowhere and unload a few mags if someone wanted to break the law in NZ.
June 28Jun 28 #24 A look at most of the Thompsons, 21AC, 28A1, M1A1, the greaser and the Russian 43. The Russian 41 (too lazy to pull it) would be the top pic, followed by the pps43, followed by the grease gun, then the Thompsons. All of these are street legal in the US and any non felon in a non-restricted state can buy them. The magazines are more restricted than the guns ironically. Happy 250th!! Perhaps dumping a C-drum out of the 21 will be next weekend's excitement?
