It’s just an assortment of things thrown together in a case. It can’t be seen clearly, but the bible is in a ‘bullet proof’ metal cover. Act of pure optimism…..but probably made someone’s Mother feel better.

April 25Apr 25 #19 Even though most Americans don't farm anymore, we still eat like farmers so it's quantity over quality. Of course, there's a thousand food traditions in the US. I just tried the UK mock banana recipe. Never ate parsnips before.

And the serving sizes. I always put on weight during my US trips. PS - Parsnips were regarded here as pig fodder until some boutique chef resurrected them as Gucci ingredients. Recommend you try them with gravy!

I think the giant serving sizes are a restaurant thing mostly, though it's part of that farmer tradition, i think. I avoid overprocessed to steer away from sugar, carbs, and salt. Processed foods here have entirely too much sodium.

But bloody hell - it takes the waitress 10 minutes to tell you all the condiments/sauces and options. Here, it’s “You want salt and pepper with that”. We have just had Costco arrive here. Their bread and buns last weeks because of the preservatives!

Having owned a flat in Scotland, worked, lived in or rucksacked all over Scotland, Ireland, Rep of, England and Wales...food in all is very bland unless it's pub grub or a chippie. All other food joints are either Indian, Paki or Asian. I prefer UK/Irish beer to anything we yanks brew. I've never been a lager lover. Pretty soon 'everything' will be of another nationality anyway.
