This bayonet was sold to me listed as an 1842 Springfield. I have my doubts. Any help is appreciated.

It's not an 1842 Springfield.  Looks British. It appears to have a Lovell's catch on the socket.  All I'm sure of is it's not US.

Closest thing that may help identify it is the 1809 Hanoverian Catch; Prussian or English like you said Marv, but the mortise is the issue. Very confusing.
