Hello everyone,

I came across this 75mm howitzer fiber tube:

 

Based on what I've read on the "TM9-1904 Ammunition Inspection Guide" the Shell M66 (which is H.E. - A.T) is always linked to the M62 fuze.

I've made this diagram concerning the 75mm How. ammo based on that manual:

(I have highlighted in yellow what I'm talking about)

 

That said, I can't understand why I am reading "Container 75mm M82" on it, as there is no parts codified as M82 linked to the 75mm howitzer ammunition.

The explanation I've given myself is that I am reading wrong because of the rust, and the numbers are actually M62.

The markings "container M82" is the designation for the cardboard tube. It has nothing to do with the ammunition that was inside.

My previous reasoning was based on the 75mm howitzer fiber tube that contains the standard H.E. round, which is this one:

 

 Where "M48" is the designation for the projectile.

And the Container M48 designation is for the cardboard tube, just like Container M82 is for the cardboard tube. The M48 tube is for the shorter M41 round, while the M82 is for the longer M48 and M66 round. The difference is roughly 1.5 inches in length.
