January 23Jan 23 #1 Hello, I picked this set of U.S. Navy Naval Aviator Wings today. Could these been made overseas? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
January 23Jan 23 #3 Look US-made to me based on the hinge. Probably wartime “no frills” manufacture. Along the lines of some of the more commonly encountered low quality shooting badges from the war years.
January 24Jan 24 #5 I have never seen a photo of one of these being worn, nor ever encountered one on a uniform. However, it is a legitimate low quality wing that is commonly seen. Probably early war years. Agree with above comments. John
January 24Jan 24 #6 IIRC, I have one of these from the estate of a late-war USN pilot. He got his wings right at the end of the war and never made it into the fleet.
January 25Jan 25 #7 These were a staple in the Wosk collection that was sold years ago. You had to buy a couple of these to be able to buy something you really wanted.
