January 2Jan 2 #2 Here is a starting point - The U.S. Army divisions that invaded Africa during Operation Torch (November 1942) included the 3rd Infantry Division, 9th Infantry Division, elements of the 2nd Armored Division, and the 1st Infantry Division, along with the 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, landing in Morocco and Algeria to open a front against Axis forces. Later, the 34th Infantry Division and 45th Infantry Divisionalso participated in the North African Campaign.

January 2Jan 2 #4 That picture is likely fairly early in the campaign. A lot of units dropped The first pattern HBT’s early on.
January 2Jan 2 #6 Just an aside. On the card it lists his employer as the C. M. St.P. and P. Ry.Co. I worked for them in the late 60s early 70s. The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad Co. You probably already knew this, but I thought I would throw it out there.
