December 21, 2025Dec 21 #1 New to the forum from cold WI. Earlier this year my dad passed away and left me two Civil war artillery sabers with scabbards. My collection consists solely of WWII flying headgear. Both sabers are marked with the maker Emerson & Silver NJ on one side and NJ 1863 on the other side. The blades are approximately 32". According to my dad these sabers were only purchased by the state of NJ in 1863. The US ordinance department did not buy any. I'm considering selling the sabers in order to free up funds for flying headgear. Any help determining value would be appreciated.
December 21, 2025Dec 21 #2 I see The Horse Soldier shows one in better condition sold for $975 at some point in the past. My retail guess would be $500-650 each. I see one is missing wire on the hilt and the throat on the scabbard, that would be the lesser.
