November 30, 2025Nov 30 Author #2 I took a hike way out in the middle of nothing in the desert in the area of Rice Army Air Base. We came up on an area littered in .50 cal links so we started looking for brass. Based on the distribution of the links over at least 20 acres and the focal point of what they were shooting at it was clearly a fighter aircraft aerial gunnery range, likely out of Rice. The links were in the thousands in all directions, but only a few brass shells were found dated 42, so I started picking up links, about half a painters bucket. Today as I was going through everything I noticed the stamps on the links. I sorted them by maker and lot stamp.

February 5Feb 5 Author #6 I went down the rabbit hole on this. I have been hiking WW2 gunnery ranges looking for links. I posted info on the metal detecting section. Using the information found on the sites I listed I tagged zip lock bags with each maker and started writing each variation for each maker on the bag as I found them. The three bags at the end are the only makers I have not found yet. I found enough stuff that I started on a belt.
