Us navy or usmc. Nice original boots

Would normally have a contract number.   Not the normal wording on WWII-era Navy contracted shoes.

 

what does the date say (kind of blurry)?

 

I'd say they were USMC.

Look inside the shoes - there should be inspector stamp USN/USMC.

 

They are USMC in my opinion. Usn should have nxsx contract visible inisde.

Id say they are original USMC. I don't believe anybody makes that corded type sole, at least not in that pattern. Not even some of the available high end reproductions on the market have them, I believe someone in Japan does make the s but I've not personally investigated that yet. 

 

They look nice, lucky find.
