Hi everyone, it has been a long time since I have logged on here and posted. I wanted to visit and see if anyone had input their experience with US made M9 bayonets with parts out of specification. I am not a serious M9 collector but have managed to acquire some samples which were of interest to me, particularly more modern OKC variations of the M9.

Recently, I was thinking about expanding my collection and bought a new producer which I don't have previous experience with: Tri Technologies

The bayonet arrived and it looks pristine, even has the original packaging. Before I stored it away for safe keeping, I decided to test fit this on my trusty M4 clone upper which I use to test all NATO spec bayonets I buy. The Tri Tech M9 will not fit on this lug, there is quite a bit of gap left. From what I can tell, the pommel is out of spec with the last little bit being too tight to fit.

In this case, what would you recommend? I am leaning towards returning the bayonet and trying to find another one but would like to hear from others on how common this issue is with Tri Tech M9s (or any other producer for that matter).

 

One of the other big reasons for bringing this up is as I understand it, Tri Technologies bought their equipment from Lancay who had several QC issues while fulfilling their earlier M9 bayonet contracts. Has anyone here experienced similar issues with any Lancay M9s?

My Tri Technologies M9 is still in the blue bag.  You are the first one that has posted, showing the fit on the ARs.   It looks from the pictures that the grip is tight against the barrel.  That may be the problem.  I don't know anything about M16s, but on my "Rubber duck" M16A2, there isn't the swell in the barrel as on your rifle. The pic shows an early LanCay.  Hope someone else can give us some insight on this.
