Hi everyone,

What do you think about this model 1862 MOH? Don’t know much at all about medals so it might be a different model or totally fake.

GAR membership badge as it says in the obverse.

The similarity between the two designs is what led to the creation of the redesigned 1904 model.

Both are very similar in appearance.

Okay, thank you all for your knowledge I really appreciate it!

Still a nice GAR medal to find.

I've always wondered if anyone has ever purchased one of these only to find out later it was a real MOH. That would be a real score! I always check the GAR random stuff on flea market tables - just in case.

Side-by-side they are actually very different.  The MOH is larger and more “substantial”.

Yeah I get that. But I still always check the flea market tables where inexperienced sellers may not realize the difference.
