Unusual WWII Occupation Medal Ribbon on a USMC Ribbon Rack

Hi Everyone,

So, this ribbon rack is on a WWII USMC enlisted uniform.  I know what everything on this rack is, but have a question about the ribbon on the top row / left.  Is this a variant of the Occupation Medal?  I have also seen it listed as China Occupation.  Any insights?

Thanks in advance.

Which and what nation's "China Service" medal? Do you have an image? Was it actually authorized for wear?

Unofficial “China Liberation” ribbon commonly found on immediate post war USMC uniforms.   Usually a plastic coated  “Wolf Brown” manufactured ribbon.

Was it based on a Chinese award?

I could be wrong, but I don’t believe there is a corresponding medal.  And it’s possible China had nothing to do with its creation.  Possibly Wolf-Brown created it as an opportunity to sell ribbons? Just guessing, as I can find no real info on this ribbon.

Perhaps someone with actual documentation could weigh-in.

And never, as far as anyone knows so far, officially constituted or authorized by the USMC or War Department?
