October 13, 2025Oct 13 #1 Good Evening Gentlemen, I picked this jumper up fairly recently and was able to identify the original owner. Gunners mat 2nd class Daniel A. Kennedy who initially served in the navy onboard the USS Rhode island from 1909-1914 and then onboard the USS Jenkins in Ireland during ww1 until he got out in 1922. I think its a pretty interesting jumper and I would say he definitely earned his torpedoman specialty badge during his 2nd tour on DD-42. As always thoughts and opinions are welcome. October 13, 2025Oct 13 Author #2 I am also assuming that given his combination of specialty insignia he would have been in charge of directing or at least handling the Jenkins 18 inch torpedo tubes.
