October 1, 2025Oct 1 #1 Apart from the USN colour coding on 40mm Bofors Rounds were there other markings on the Projectiles like ink stamps or stencil markings, lot or manufacture markings etc, like you see on British Commonwealth Bofor projectile ammunition, all the projectiles i have seen on the web looks like there were non.

October 4, 2025Oct 4 #5 I have seen many variances. Take the US Army 40 mm Bofors. The engraving on the headcase has no Anchor and are marked M25 cases, which in addition are “ Stake” crimped, harder to find also. The charging clips they sit in are also marked differently than Navy issue. Way back when I had to buy US Army issue Bofors clips from Europe for my US Army projectiles, none found in the US. That said, both Army and Navy WW2 dated 40mm rounds seem to have dried up.

Not a matter about cost just have not seen one!
October 4, 2025Oct 4 Author #7 Has anyone got one in their collection of years ago with original finish. Just wondering if the USN Bofors colour coding is the same as the Army with a green body with yellow white red fuze end.
October 7, 2025Oct 7 #8 The USN Bofors used what is called a Hunter green. Much different than US Army OD. Keep in mind all US ordnance colors are specified by TM, etc. The colors have Federal Standard specs. “ FS” numbers. I would have to look for the FS color number. As a note, Testors model paint sells paint by FS number. Eg, “FS 34408”. Try searching this forum, I posted much.
October 7, 2025Oct 7 #9 Here is a U.S. Army and three Navy Bofors rounds on an Army clip. Original colors, one or two have been yellowed by varnish?… and notice factory crimped rounds. The chromed Army AP is in a 1943 Canadian marked case.
