I know there are a few posts/pics on the forum of this type of wing, but I figured I’d post mine as well (I picked it up for $.25 -yes, that’s cents btw- back in about 1985/86 at an outdoor flea market sale they used to have at the Tacony-Palmyra Drive-In, in Southern NJ). I don’t know why, but it’s probably one of my favorite pieces.

 

For well over 25 years I had no idea what it was, other than it “looked cool” and thought it pretty unique. Then I came upon a wings website which had it, and I felt better because it was listed as being “unknown”. Years later I saw a number of different ones on the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum website, which shows they have at least six variations of the wing (I know there is a seventh online somewhere, specifically one with the USAAC/F propeller).

Very nice example - and thanks for the Smithsonian link. These will occasionally come up for sale on eBay, but certainly not for a quarter!

 

One thing is for certain: like their USAAF counterparts, WWII-era US Navy & USMC-related homefront & sweetheart items come in all shapes, sizes, designs and materials.
