August 6, 2025Aug 6 #2 According to google A.I., the military stopped issuing the TL-29 around February 2007 when Camillus closed their factory. The TL-29 has been around for a hundred years. They were issued in WWI and WWII, but I have never heard when they stopped officially issuing the knife. They were certainly around during the Vietnam war. Based on too little research, I found that according to Gary Cunningham, after WWII, they were procured from commercial sources on an "as needed" basis. The ones that are marked TL-29 were likely military issued knives, but the unmarked knives could be as well. Since this is not my real area of collecting, I may be going out on a limb with my answer, so I hope someone else will correct anything I got wrong. Marv
August 6, 2025Aug 6 #4 Well Google A.I. needs some help. The Camillus factory was closed down in 2006. The February 2007 date was the auctioning off of the company. I bring this up for one reason. There are Camillus marked knives out there with 2007 dates on them, They are forgeries!! People bought parts at the auction and some were made into knives under false pretenses.
