July 28, 2025Jul 28 #1 The price was under 100 bucks so could not pass up. Plus, a leather scabbard 0riginal to the knife. Has a shipboard repair on the handle was told it was done on a machine shop on ship. A worn and used knife from WW2.

July 28, 2025Jul 28 Author #3 you might be right on LB weld but it's the way the light was when I took the photo it has not been restitched for 75 bucks think I did OK. all the staples on the leather turned green from age the staple over the stitching. The sheath alone worth 75.
July 29, 2025Jul 29 Author #4 The seller said they used babbitt a metal that was used to fix the handle it comes in it's a soft metal that could melt easy and been around since the 1800's. And was done in a machine shop on ship. I used to be on the USS Proteus AS-19 was built in WW2 and still had machines shop equipment from WW2 that were still in use the metal laths were huge I once had my boatswain pipe repaired it snaped in two so got a MM to weld it together it worked so I can see a shipboard repair like this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babbitt_(alloy)
