I bought this interesting 8x10 period photo of an unidentified soldier. He's wearing the 8th ID patch but I don't recognize the dui. Might be wearing engineer collar disk, Company A?

Any guesses on the dui?

You are spot on in your reasoning. However, confusingly the unit is the 5th Engineer Battalion (Combat).
