April 13, 20251 yr #1 Not sure if this is the right sub forum for this question, but it's the only one I could think of. If this is the incorrect place for this, I'm sorry. What is the difference between the TL-122 and the MX991/U? I've been trying to find a flashlight for my Vietnam impression and found the MX991/U, which IS the correct flashlight for that era. I also found the TL-122 sometimes, and they look pretty similar. I want to save money, so I was thinking I should buy one flashlight and then just have an incorrect impression with the other one (until I come across enough money to buy the other flashlight). After all, they DO look similar. Is that alright, or should I just go over budget for this one? Is it really a big deal? Thanks, Wade
April 26, 20251 yr #3 I have kind of been drawn to USGI flashlights of late myself. The examples I found (primarily at the swap meet) are pictured. All have "U.S." molded into the plastic tube above the flashlight's designation. All work and when found, the MX 199/U lights all came with the red filter installed in the lens extensions. There are some extensive, older threads on these and more if one searches...
