April 3, 20251 yr #1 This is a photo of my wife’s Great Uncle. According to family, he landed sometime on D Day. I have been able to determine from another photo that his rating was electricians mate. National Archives request returned no info and his direct family is in the wind. Based on this photo, he is heavily kitted out, with a rifle (Enfield maybe?) and helmet stripe. it also looks like he might have “USN” painted on the front of his jacket. From my initial research, he was likely attached to a Naval Beach Battalion in some capacity. Ultimately, we would like to determine exactly what unit he was assigned to and in turn get an idea of what his duties were that day, when he landed, where etc. Any help or resources would be greatly appreciated.
