My personal techniques for Cleaning, Restoring and Preserving medals, knives, holsters and firearms

Hi all. I am pretty new to this forum, but not new to the title of my post. Some of these products I have used for years. The knowledge regarding them has been passed on to me from fellow collectors and preservationists. Some of the products are not cheap. For example my Ultrasonic cleaner which was around $1K.  All ultrasonic machines are not created equal. Some of them may have only one transducer in them and others several of them. They operate via sound waves at different hertz levels. Some have adjustable thermostats to heat the water used.  I have been through many trial and errors in using this technique. Acetone can be like a Miracle worker on items, but it has to be pure acetone which is very volatile. Also acetone can't be used on certain rubber products etc. I will enclose photos of some the products I use. Steel wool is a big help, as long as you use 0000 grade. I also use a product called FLITZ. Some of you may have heard of it. One of their products is a spray on Ceramic coating that i use on some of my blades and firearms. The key point to remember is that some of the items we collect are better off with some patina and age on them. So some diligence must be considered when using any product. One No No I never use is TOOTHPASTE. It is abrasive!!! I hope this post will help to pass on the knowledge I have received.
