March 3, 20251 yr #1 I am requesting if anyone has any photos of a live M2A1 practice grenade fuze that's shows the glass amber vile filled with acid the hammer hits to set off reaction in the fuze. Has it been documented
March 4, 20251 yr #2 I have never heard of this fuze, and doesn't sound like any grenade fuze I have heard of. This fuze is for a hand grenade?
March 11, 20251 yr Author #3 Hmmm, iv been looking for a early WW2 practice fuze but I'd like to see a example of a real one to compare to what I'm seeing in the market. I see two up for auction but I'm not sure how to not get ripped off. So I asked chat GPT instead of here and it must have told me lies if you say it's not real. I was told early training fuzes for M2A1 PINEAPPLE had a acid filled glass tube the striker hits, that makes contact it metal that ignites fuze, I guess there is a metal plug with a tiny hole at bottom of fuze that causes pressure and a loud pop sound. It claimed this is how us solder trained during ww2... lol man it makes me sick to think I talked to the AI for hours and it taught me make up stuff about ww2... yikes. Is what I said matching to reality? Anyway the whole point was apparently I can check the inerted fuzes for acid burns on the metal to detect if it was traning or if it was a real one that used the Mercury charge
March 11, 20251 yr #4 If you want to learn about the Mk2 pineapple grenade, here is a good starting point. Because what you ware talking about, acid filled and mercury charge, I haven't heard of with regards to US grenade fuzes. https://tgrm.foxed.ca/Americangrenades/Mk II/The Mk 2 grenade.html
March 11, 20251 yr #5 This is only Ord. TM thats is not packed up. There is one on fuses, maybe someone here can look up grenade fuses.
April 1, 20251 yr Author #6 Wow, it's just a primer? I had originally ask chatgpt because I was worried about chemical exposure from them being inerted... it started telling me about acids and mercury, I don't play around with mercury... thats a relief to know there is no mercury residue to worry about. Any chance I can ever find a M10A1 or 2 fuze that had the primer removed and powder taken out? Iv only seen a few before. I missed a nice kinda ok fuze and grenade today because I slept through Auction lol, it sold for $50. Fuze wasn't as mint as I want and looked rusted into the body. I can get a metal reproduction fuze with no spoon or pin for 20$.... is it possible to find the fuze empty in mint condition, im looking for quality instead of quantity, iv passed of around 8 of them the past months due to condition and today I fell asleep lol
April 3, 20251 yr #7 Sounds like you need something like this, an original inert fuze with a spent primer and fake detonator. There are all original fuze that have had the detonator demilled by drilling holes and getting the powder out and primer popped but those are hard to find.
April 4, 20251 yr Author #8 Now i know what to look for, that is very nice. Iv seen them even less complete than what you have wow. Very nice. It would display great in a cutaway grenade body
