Any WW2 Ordnance Pick-ups at the SOS?

Anything to show us, found at the SOS? Especially WW2 Period!

There was a lot more ordinance than usual at SOS this year. The only WWII ordinance item I picked up this year was an April 1943 dated M1 Grenade Projection Adapter. Don't have a picture available right now but I've been looking for a black lettering 1943 dated adapter for awhile now.

Lots of WW2 ord at SOS, actually that was most of the ord there other than one table that had a bunch of modern ord.

I only found two pieces of WWII ordnance I wanted.  A friend picked up a really nice M3 anti-personnel mine but I didn't get a picture of it.  Nice markings and still had the yellow closure disc.

Living 2000 miles away and collecting ordnance always means a wait to get things home as munitions don't travel well on the airlines.  The M6 bazooka rocket arrived yesterday and the other item is scheduled for Tuesday.

Great find Rick, does it have the insides?  I'm very jealous.

Very nice grab. Were early bazooka rounds all painted ordnance yellow?

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, all there except the final little booster cup.

And Ken, yes, all the early bazooka rockets and all other explosive ordnance items loaded prior to late 1942 were yellow in color.  A few of us here have a bit of a "thing" for yellow munitions.

Item number two from SOS finally arrived today.  It's a complete cutaway pistol and booster assembly for a U.S. Mk6 depth charge.

I've been working on restoring a WWII "K" gun depth charge projector for a few years and have a complete Mk6 depth charge to display with it. But it occurred to me that it sort of looks like a big trash can mounted there and doesn't even give a hint about how the system works.  So I decided to do a cutaway depth charge similar to one spotted at the Navy Undersea Warfare Museum in Keyport, Washington many years ago.  The plan was to section the body of the depth charge and insert my parts together with some graphic illustrations to show how the inner fuze parts functioned.

Finding this one at SOS made the job much easier and was already sectioned, something I wouldn't have the heart to do to my own pistol and booster.Mk6PistolfromSOS1.jpg.e380b94e449c9210da26d15057298f1c.jpgMk6PistolfromSOS2.jpg.a15ead1681899c1e501d4a8ace14268d.jpgMk6DCatKeyport.jpg.0ddec7288397ea48414ef220d3037c65.jpg
