I am having a hard time figuring out just what exactly this pouch is.

I suspect it could be a 1950's European gasmask pouch; maybe Dutch or Belgian.

It definitely does not look like a US item. Could be wrong, though, but it looks European to me.

Thanks guys.  That makes sense.  I did get some 1950s British webgear as well in the lot.
