Ike jacket ID’d to Lt. Edward A. Sobuta, Co. K 7th Infantry Regiment. Lt. Sobuta started off his service in WWII as an enlisted man, swiftly rising through the ranks until his commission to 2nd Lt. on January 15th, 1945. Throughout his years of service, he saw combat in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations along with the Rhineland and Central European campaigns. He was wounded in action a total of 6 times (4 times in 1944 and twice in 1945) and was awarded the Silver Star Medal for gallantry in action during the Battle of Anzio. Towards the end of the war, he was transferred to HQ 274th Infantry and served with this unit until his discharge on November 12th, 1945.

Along with the ike jacket pictured in this post, his grouping also contained his enlisted pattern ike jacket and some VFW related items.

Fantastic uniform!

Wow.  Enlisted to officer, wounded 6 times, SS for gallantry.  Doesn't get much better than that to add to the collection for sure.

Awesome grouping.  Thank you for sharing.

Forgot to include these photos of the vet with my initial post. It looks like he might be wearing the same ike jacket in a couple of them, just with the 70th ID SSI in place of the 3rd ID SSI that’s currently on there.
