January 7, 20251 yr #1 Hi, this is my first post! This WW1 P. B & Co. 1911 magazine pouch is from a yard sale. They said it was from a ww2 marine relative who fought in the pacific. That's all I could get out of the seller. Someone clearly took some time to do a nice camo pattern on this pouch. I have surfed the forums extensively and have not seen pics or found mention of a camoflaged US mag pouch in either war. Have you web gear experts seen anything like this? Do you think it was done "in theatre"? If so which war? Camo was pretty much nonexistent in WW1. Did marine raiders camo up their web gear when using the M1942 Frog Skin uniforms? Looking forward to your thoughts.

And there was a fair amount of camo in WW1, from ships to helmets and even rifles! It was a period of experimentation for camo, so just about any crazy pattern can be found! Steve
January 9, 20251 yr Author #6 You are all correct...I think it is staining and not intentional camo.. The stains soaked through to the other sides of single layers of canvas (same shape on both sides) which could be a camo job, BUT on further examination there is a "stain" inside where the web belt goes where one would never bother to try to put camo. Thanks everyone. I have another query for my next post on a weird first aid pouch.
