I posted this under Ordnance, so there's more information there.  I inherited two grenades from family that brought them back from army service in 1952/53.  As I understand, these are pretty rare; I'm hoping that means they would be worth more.  They were high explosive grenades, not practice or dummy.  The fuzes are original, and the spoons are the ones he brought back with him, although I see that one is printed and the other is solid green.  I know some websites say these don't exist- that RFX grenades were all practice grenades- but these never had a hole in the base and are absolutely untouched from when they were brought home.

 

I'd rather sell them than keep them, but I'd like to have an understanding of what they could fetch before I do anything stupid. 

 

Any suggestion on the best place to do that would be appreciated, too.  I've looked at gunbroker and ebay, and only seen a few grenades of different types, nothing exactly like these.

They sure look good. I wonder if they were leftover WW2 stock and just re-fitted with a new fuse. See website that follows. Steve NY

That's the 100 dollar question, but I'm working on it.

I was doing some work with a sheriff's deputy once. We were shooting the breeze, talking about service, vets, etc. I told him I always ask vets if they got to bring anything home, whether they were in combat or not. He proceeded to tell me of a call they got. Old guy had passed. His wife and kids were cleaning out and straightening up. They found two crates of hand grenades in the basement. The old woman said those crates had been there for years, but she never knew what was in them. It was 'his' part of the basement and she didn't do much there. 

 

The county (Richland County, Ohio) didn't have a bomb squad, so they called Summit County. Those guys came down and took them, then had their fun with them. Called Richland the next day and reported that they all went off (as would be expected). 

 

Why I couldn't come across such a thing....
