Tiger Stripe Laundry Bag - Real or Not?

Featured Replies

I recently found a tiger stripe laundry bag (26" x 18") that shows signs of having some age to it, but I'm not familiar with the camouflage pattern.  The camo is fairly close to some of the issue patterns but has some extra details I haven't seen.  The material itself has a soft feel to it and is relatively lightweight.  It may be one of the many tailor shop camo patterns that were available at the time. I've seen custom-made garment bags made of tiger camo but a laundry bag would be a first for me.   Can anyone tell me if this is original or not?

I believe I may have found the answer to my own question.  I couldn't find a match in the tiger threads on this forum, but I found something pretty close in Johnson's book.  He describes it as a pattern that dates back to at least the mid-70s, but can't be proven to have been used in Vietnam.  He mentions shirts being made from it, but no other items.  The fabric is usually rip-stop but a heavy cotton poplin is also known.  I wouldn't describe the fabric in my bag as heavy but the pattern looks pretty similar.
