October 7, 20241 yr #1 Not sure if this is the proper place but as I’ve collected a few M65 jackets both Army and USAF. Some tags say dry clean only. This is very hard monetarily to do. Is it ok to wash like the others that do not have that same tag. Thanks in advance
October 7, 20241 yr #2 It should be fine, but I wouldn’t go washing it every day or even every month. I washed one of my jungle fatigues that didn’t have a dry cleaning tag and it came out fine.
November 23, 20241 yr #6 There's a kit for doing something like dry cleaning at home. You get something to put in a dryer and you run your stuff in the dryer with this material and it's like a dry cleaning. https://www.amazon.com/Dryel-At-Home-Dry-Cleaner-Starter/dp/B01BUNJ2HW Also leaving stuff hanging outside in the sun and brushing it down helps. There's also laundry wipes. https://www.amazon.com/Shout-Instant-Remover-Laundry-Stains/dp/B07YCYCTG4
December 28, 20241 yr #8 M65 jackets will fade or "gray" with washing. The tags will fade too. It is ill-advised to launder (in any form) M1965 (or M41, M43, M51 as well) jackets that are in mint or near mint condition. If they smell of mildew - direct sunlight laid out on green (not dead, not yellow) healthy grass flipped every hour or two for a day or two should mellow or remove mildew smells. If that fails there are activated charcoal packets. ABN
