September 3, 20241 yr #1 I found this on FB marketplace for $200. It’s been HEAVILY used but imo that shows more history to it. Is it original and worth the $200 for the condition it’s in with all the repairs or would you pass on it? Thanks for any help guys. Here’s the link to it. https://www.facebook.com/share/M4Vkk3n9nBBr9uGa/?mibextid=79PoIi
September 3, 20241 yr Solution #2 It is original, looks tired and heavily repaired.....I'd think for $200 there are many other examples I'd consider before going for this one...(IMO)
September 3, 20241 yr Author #3 Thanks. Yeah I passed on it. Do you know any sites I can get an original?
September 3, 20241 yr #4 You can pay a lot on ebay for a nice one but honestly, it's just rummage sales and thrift stores. Plain enough to get missed by whoever puts it out. Should find a nice one for a good price. I say the worn one has good history and if you can get them to reconsider their price, that may be the way to go.

September 3, 20241 yr #7 But those Pictures will eventually go away, and this conversation will mean nothing without the photo. Would be a good reference for others buyers. I couldn't access the link or I would had done it for you. Thanks Ken
September 3, 20241 yr Author #8 That’s the jacket. My bad. This is the description for it. “This jacket is in rough shape and has had the zipper inside removed and many stitch repairs done, but has all the original buttons… The jacket is size 38R and has a laundry number (F-8714) and the remnants of private or corporal patches on both sides of the jacket… The zippers were commonly removed by soldiers to make them more lightweight…”
September 3, 20241 yr Author #9 Also I’m wondering how to directly reply to someone on this site. Do you just quote them ?
September 4, 20241 yr #10 I really like the jacket, definitely been there look. I agree $200. Is steep, but the jacket has a lot of character. Sorry I don't do Facebook so can't help there. Good luck, keep us informed. Attached are some possible men for your jacket. Check where the jacket is for sale against these guys home towns, you may get lucky on identifying him. Ken

I have an M41 in mint condition that has a serial number and a name. I looked him up a while back and he lived in Marion county, Indiana and he was born in 1914 and enlisted in 42…if that’s actually him. It’s the same name and serial number so I believe it to be. I’ll show some pics of mine if you’re interested. Leroy E. Pletcher, SN 35356680

I’m the guy who responded to your Reddit post yesterday, did you reach out to James Parker at TopKick?

I would check with Hayes Otoupalik https://www.hayesotoupalik.com/WW2 U.S. Uniforms.htm and send him an email. Hayes has one of the largest collections of militaria in the country and is a really good and knowledgeable guy to buy from. Stewart’s Militaria https://stewartsmilitaryantiques.com/ And maybe try emailing https://www.germanmilitaria.com/OtherNations/04USA.html (they’re a bit on the pricey side)

Been looking for an original for years and they’re all over $250. How would I go about doing that? Just email him about it and start a convo?
