August 31, 20241 yr #1 Would this one date to pre-war or early war? Thanks! I'm fiddling with a shadowbox for a soldier and wanted to include a time period correct DUI.
February 16, 20251 yr #2 That would be the correct crest for the 15th Cavalry Regiment (1st & 2nd Squadrons), from 1943 to 1944. It would still be correct for the 15th Cavalry Group, 15th & 17th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadrons from 1944 to 1946. The 17th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron changed their crest in 1946.

Thanks cavcon! I put together a small shadowbox for a local Dayton, Ohio guy, Norwood Emrick, to showcase the Purple Heart he received for his wounds in France August 3rd, 1944. He was also taken prisoner that same day.

I'm pretty sure I'll keep this long-term as I've started to narrow my focus to collecting local pieces where possible. I was fortunate to find this PH at a local antique show where the seller had no history other than he found it at a local estate sale.
