July 15, 20242 yr #1 A recent find in the wild. Am I correct this is an M1936? The inside of the main top flat is stamped "Airtress Midland 1943". I gather that Airtress Midland was one of several different manufacturing companies making this type of field gear? The stamp on the front I'm having a hard time making anything of. Any idea what type of info would typically be included here? Also having a hard time with the stamp on the strap. Possibly another manufacturer and "1942"? Any general info on these M1936 bags would be appreciated. Let me know if you'd like to see any other pictures. Thanks! -Bosley
February 7, 20251 yr #2 Airtress midland was a company from Davenport, Iowa that made tractor seat cushions and were called up to make items for the gear for the war effort.
February 18, 20251 yr #3 You are correct, this is an M1936 musette bag. It appears this may be one of the rubberized cavas versions too. Very nice find! the stamp on the front looks like a soldier’s name and serial number. To bad it looks only halfway applied and worn away

Darn I will take a close look at this again tonight to see if I can make out the name/laundry # anywhere on there.
April 4, 20251 yr #5 could be carried with a shoulder strap as set up now or attached with the short straps to suspenders to be worn on the back.

I've seen and collected a fair few of these over the years, you get used to the manufacturer's marking stamps, oh and magic eyes work wonders. 😂
