February 17, 20242 yr #1 This my 38H passed onto me by my great grandfather who picked it up off a dead German. Pretty common I know, but the Serial number reads “300001” is this significant, rare or valuable? Never looking to sell just wanna know more about it. TIA
February 17, 20242 yr #2 This might get pulled as it’s not American, but there were 4 variations of this pistol. Looks like an earlier one, but photos of the other side are needed. It’s a sauer 38h I believe. Nice little quality gun.
February 17, 20242 yr #3 Does it have capture papers with it? Its not the most desirable pistol (Luger, PPK, P38), but may have been used by an officer or policeman. Does it have markings anywhere on it that indicate "property of"? It would be stamped into the frame or grip.
February 17, 20242 yr #4 Moved to the spoils of war section for now, but If your after info on the pistol suggest you post on the world militaria forum
February 18, 20242 yr #5 Any info you can give us on your great grandfather. What outfit did he serve with? Very nice pistol by the way!
February 18, 20242 yr #6 First or second version as it is polished without the visible machining marks that are present on later models. Def early or pre war production.
