My guess is 1880’s to 1900 or so….some state units and some seagoing Marines were still using percussion rifles into the Spam Am War and slightly beyond.

    Could be a photographer's studio prop and be older than the ones in use. I think Dirk means muzzleloading rather than percussion. The breechloading trapdoor Springfield rifle was still issue in state units during the Span-Am War. I think muzzleloading rifles were not then the issue firearm.
