January 16, 20242 yr #1 I saw these clutch back glider pilot wings and they raised my curiosity. I don’t recognize the hallmark on the back. Any idea who made these and when? Thanks in advance.
January 16, 20242 yr #2 Below are photos of known LG Balfour fake glider pilot wings (photos 1 thru 6) which some refer to as post war LG Balfour restrikes. The hexagon followed by STER is supposedly a post war LG Balfour hallmark (Photo 5 & 6). This is the first time I have seen one of these fakes surface with clutch back pins as previous ones were all pin back. I don't think this is a legitimate post war LG Balfour glider pilot wing but another copy made by someone to deceive. I have attached photos of a genuine LGB Balfour glider pilot wing and you can see that the rear hollowing cavity does not have rounded corners like the fake ones.
January 16, 20242 yr Author #3 Thanks T. I’m relatively new to collecting and am conscious that there’s a lot I don’t know. Having said that I’ve not seen these before which raised questions for me that I couldn’t answer. Thanks again for your input. These are listed on eBay currently.

As someone who occasionally sells stuff on eBay, I cannot understand why someone would post such terrible photos unless the intention is to deceive. There's no excuse now. It used to be blurry photos because the person was not "tech adept" and just didn't take good pics. Now it seems it is done intentionally to deceive and give the seller the "appearance" of lack of knowledge on the item.
January 16, 20242 yr Author #5 The wings have a buy it now price of $249.99 and an option to make an offer. I stay away from the full size 3 inch glider wings because there are so many fakes. I have 3 of the shirt size and just picked up a forth set because I have read on the forum that it would not be worth the time or trouble to fake this size wings. Thanks again everyone.
