M41 Field Jacket Authenticity?

Hi guys- hoping to get some of y’all’s thoughts on this M41 jacket I bought late last year.  I’m a helmet guy, and tend to stay away from uniforms- but I was looking for a nice condition M41 to compliment the salty one I bought from Josh a year or so ago.  So, this one came up at a show for a price that’s towards the bottom of the market and I jumped on it before I really looked it over.. rookie mistake, I know- but it had been a long day!  I also didn’t speak to the dealer about it, so for all I know he could’ve been selling it as a reproduction; strike two!  The material feels right, it’s that “fragile” twill, and the color is about spot on, but there are some details that really hang me up.

I don’t have a ton of hands on experience w/ M41s, but there’s a bunch of things pointing me towards it being a reproduction.  If it is, that’s my own mistake- no worries.

Here’s what stands out to me, but I’m curious what you guys think:

Condition is just exceedingly clean for an M41

Zipper pull is wrong, potentially the whole zipper

Buttons are different then the “good” example I’m basing off of

No tags left, pocket lining is different then I’m used to, collar tag appears to be completely removed

Inner lining feels lighter then usual

I do like the color, outer material, and that the cuffs are hemmed like several originals I’ve seen-

Anyway, I look forward to any opinions both good or bad.

Thanks,

CC

It's a repro.

Yep repro

Judging by the liner I'm gonna say it's a 25 year old Sturm. You can still see where the square tag was removed

Alrighty, thank you guys for the confirmation.  I guess it’s time to see if anyone I know needs a new coat for reenacting!

I'd be interested if it is a medium size!

Probably more like a large- somewhere in the 44-48 range..  Should’ve been red flag #3, but I’m not good at gauging size without a tape measure.. do’oh!

So goes!  It’s a decent looking coat.. sure someone can find a use for it.  Maybe I’ll try to trade it for an old ATF reproduction Arctic to keep me warm this winter!
