Grenade holder with 3 individual pockets that can contain - in each one - a hand grenade.

This material will be adopted in 1944 and managed in supplies by the Quartermaster Depot of Jeffersonville (J.Q.M.D).

 

The pockets will be closed with two Life the Dot type snap buttons. It will be worn on a belt fitted with eyelets using an M-1910 type double hook which will be attached to the rear of the grenade holder. Two laces will be sewn at the bottom, so that they are laced on the thigh to prevent the pouch from moving around when the soldier moves.

 

The first version called type I is in Olive Drab No. 3 color and will be made of woven cotton for the flaps and back (Webbing) and strong cotton canvas for the pockets (Cotton Duck).

 

The second version called type II will be made only in Cotton Duck and will be dyed in Olive Drab No 7.

There is a similar model with two pouches which will be reserved only for the USMC.

Here are mine. 

Here are three of mine. A KADIN 1944 first type with the single LTD snap per pocket. And 1951 and 1967 dated examples. I would think the Marine Corps would be the ones using the 67 dated pouches as the Army M1956 gear had straps on the side of the ammo pouches for grenades.
