August 9, 20232 yr #1 Just got these today with a small group. These flags caught my eye and I decided to go ahead and get them. With that, I have never seen flags that have the Unit regiment crest on them, so any help on them would be appreciated. I already tried to check the area of the leather tab to find a date, but it couldn't be found on either. The Unit crest flag is a nylon with silver fringe, and measures 24 by 36 inches. The regiment number flag is made from the same material, and measures 19 by 29 inches.
August 10, 20232 yr #2 They are not issued 18th Infantry items. Units often procured their own guidons that just as often did not conform to the specifications for guidons. It still happens.
August 10, 20232 yr #3 and Unit guidons were not allowed to be given as "gifts" for retiring officers, etc. so sometimes you see these made up for that purpose as well.
August 11, 20232 yr Author #5 Thank you for insight on this! This grouping did in fact come from an Lt. Colonel, so I believe it the unit may have made these guidons for him upon retirement. 9 hours ago, manayunkman said: Very cool piece I agree. First ever guidons I have bought.
