July 22, 20233 yr #1 I came accross this patched 451st Aslt. Hel. Co. OG107 Jungle Jacket. I can't seem to find any information on the unit, let alone determine if the patch is real. Any information on the authenticity of the patch would be much appreciated. Nb. It also has a 101st Airborne patch on the left shoulder. Thanks for the help!
July 22, 20233 yr #2 I did not find the unit listed either in Stanton's Vietnam OOB nor in Dept of the Army Pamphlet 672-3 (aka post KW campaign & credit participation register) There are some knockoffs on Ebay for their "avionics" detachment. However, this is later than I collect and am sure there are those out there w/ greater expertise. These were two obvious resources I have.
July 22, 20233 yr Author #3 Thanks for the info! Would be great if others could shine their light on the authenticity of the patch as well.
July 22, 20233 yr #4 Last add: I wrote this late at night. It came to me that there are many experienced collectors who heard (at the time) that there were patches made in VN for units that didn't exist or have UA patches (pockets or sleeves) and this may be one of them. Again, standing by for someone with more info.
July 23, 20233 yr Solution #7 The placement of the pocket patch is odd. I don’t like that patch it looks more intone with a modern fake. I’ve seen this uniform somewhere on Ebay, the seller was selling some other suspicious looking patches. The edges on the AB patch are worn but the fatigue is in perfect shape. I’d pass something about it doesn’t look right. With the 101 AB subdued patches there are few and most of them are fake.
