I found this in an antique gun cleaning kit with a mix of civilian and military items.  Any ideas of what gun this was for or was this a generic cleaning rod?  It's about 34 inches long.  It's too big for a .22 caliber.  It's about .25 inch in diameter.   Brass rod with an aluminum knob.  Thanks for the help.    

The bottom part that the rag threads into is probably a replacement or commercial piece but the rod top and rods appear to be part of a 1910 jointed cleaning rod. As you can see the proper rod tip is different.  Is is marked 1913 on top?  This rod is located on the forum. Regards 

Thank you ccyooper.  I have that piece too.  There are no markings anywhere on these items.  

 

 

 

I could tell it was a 1910 rod by the small male thread parts. The 1913 model looks the same but it is marked 1913 and the threaded male ends are slightly longer.  Here is a picture with proper cases I posted a few years ago on the forum. Glad you have the other end tip. top to bottom- 1910, 1913, 1916, and garrison 1916. Regards 

Was this for the M1903?  Did it have a brush too?  I have a small adaptor for allowing a smaller threaded brush.  Would this adaptor have been included or added later?  Thanks.

 

 

Yes, 1903 rifle.  I won’t be home for a couple of weeks but I believe the early bristle brush will screw into the rod.
