I have been collecting for many years. This is an amazing Tunic in my experience. It appears completely unmolested with all the correct period accoutrements. For example, even the tunic upper pocket appears to have been unopened for years (see Picture of “indentation”). Out of reverence for the piece it was hard for me to disassemble for pictures / documentation. I did, however, manage to replace all pieces in their original positions.

 

I have never seen these wings. They do not appear in my fav reference http://www.ww2wings.com/wings/usaaf/usaafpilot.shtml  . I am looking through other references. If anyone knows please help. Based on the remainder of uniform I think they are London or CBI because there is an Asia Pacific ribbons but coat is London made. (I think my lieutenant was CBI and transferred to 8th HQ UK).

 

The wings are solid, no sterling mark but heavy and seems like silver. The Shield "cross-hatch" is interesting, feather detail is nice and the pin "solder-on" is beefy (if not primative) as is the needle itself is thicker than usual. It is 3 1/8" My guess is CBI made??

Here is another set from Panama. Have not seen these anywhere else. They don't seem to be sterling and have a twinge of goldish to them but probably not gold fill.

Correction - Coat / Tunic is US.
