March 20, 20251 yr #28 Name almost looks like Nankivell. Major John H. Nankivell published the History of The Colorado National Guard. He was a long serving Officer in both the Guard and the Regular Army. I don't believe he was in the Air Service however I wonder if this belonged to a family member. Sorry to hear Elden passed away. Tough bargainer, but he sure got in the stuff.

I'm sadden by how you had to spend Eldens last moments together. I had the same experience with Marty, from whom I'd inherited my 21st Airship coat that was in Elden's former collection.
March 21, 20251 yr #30 Still a magnificent piece and I was thankful to have seen it in person at a Colorado show I think. I remember visiting Jay Massaro on one of my trips back to Austin and gave him a duplicate of the photos I took of it and some other new 490th theater made variations I had found. He submitted the photo of the DI (It was a poor shot from over my head) and it appeared in the Trading Post as a new discovery. It's a beautiful piece! 🥰
