Photo taken 29 May 1944 at Hammer Field, CA, of a junk-on-the-bunk type display for a member of the 547th Night Fighter Squadron.

That's neat to see, Robin.  Thanks for the post.

The 547th NFS operated P-61 Black Widows as part of the Thirteenth AF in the Philippines.  The reference in the photo to "pre-POM" means it was taken prior to the "Preparation for Overseas Movement" activities that all units going outside the CONUS were required to undertake.

The reference to 450AAFBU is to the 450th Army Air Forces Base Unit.  It was located at Hammer Field near Fresno, CA.  Part of its mission was Replacement Pilot Training by the Night Fighter Training School.  One of its components was probably responsible for taking these kind of training photos.

Regards,

Charlie
