October 9, 20223 yr #1 Hello everyone, This is by far one of my favorite uniforms in my collection, given to me by the son of the veteran. However, I’m having a little trouble figuring out what exactly the uniform is. At first I thought it was a modified M41, but now I’m not 100% sure. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
October 9, 20223 yr #2 Sure, the jacket is not a M41 (never front pockets) Any Marking, any tag in a pocket ? Pants seem the same colour and same period (civil or military ?

Compared to my original M41, the collar and epaulets plus the buttons look the same, maybe a private purchase variety? On the inside waistband of the pants the man’s name and laundry number are written.
October 9, 20223 yr #4 The jacket looks like a heavily modified M41 Arctic Field jacket. The Arctic jackets had a thidker kersey wool blanket type lining as did the matching trousers. They were hip length as well

I know for a fact that the vet (a combat engineer) served in the Bulge, wonder if this was created around that time period.
October 9, 20223 yr #6 The way its cut/tailored is like a british battle jacket. The M41 Arctic jackets were a cold weather item and can be seen in use by a l,ot of ground forces. Commonly seen in pictures of FSSF and others in the Aleutian Island. I have one to a 11th AF vet I post a few years ago.The unit he was with Ferried Aircraft to Russia

Also, the veteran had an interesting story. He landed on Utah Beach, but was WIA when his transport truck was hit by artillery. He recovered and fought through the Bulge and into Germany with the 150th Combat Engineers. He also said in an interview that he heard Germans dressed as Americans passing by while in the loft of a barn during the Bulge. Thanks for the help!
February 22, 20251 yr #9 Those are also the Arctic Kersey Lined Trousers issued alongside the Arctic M41. Great cold weather pants- can't wait till I find a pair
