I was snorkeling in Guantanamo and shallow water. I saw this 8 sided metal thing and was not sure if it was trash or something.  I soaked it in CLR and then could see the USMC stamped in it. Totally stoked.  It was big day for finds.

I remember finding something snorkeling but I was 7 years old and couldn’t get down that deep to grasp it.

 

My uncle tried to find it but he couldn’t.

 

Never saw it again.

I snorkel almost everyday.  It is quite a place with so much history.

I would buy or rent a metal detector, appropriate for that water, and go to work.

 

If you are visually finding items like these, I suspect there is a lot more buried.

I got these about 10 years ago from a guy who found them on Glass Beach in Gitmo back when he was stationed there...obviously not in as good condition as your finds, but still neat
